What is everyone opinions when game developers decide to put a game on one console over the other?

Halo has done it since its launch years ago and has become successful

Just recently Helldivers (while on PC also) is mostly a PSN exclusive game and has also found huge success doing it this way.

What are your thoughts on this?

Well, I play a lot of Mario games and they're exclusive to Nintendo. While there are other games you can play on the Nintendo consoles, Mario was actually created by Nintendo so they own any rights to him. I don't see Nintendo giving that up.

I think it's only fair that Mario games only come out for Nintendo because they created that character and the story of him saving Princess Peach from Bowser.

I get that having it on more consoles is better, but at the same time the game is better made if focus is kept onto one console only. Specially with the Xbox X/S requirement that can hinder things.

I do a ton of gaming, mainly playing exclusive titles. I believe they are doing this for marketing purposes, or they may simply not be prepared to launch it on other platforms to gauge the games' success. Part of this includes creating a timetable for development and a budget for performance to make sure the game is bug-free and reachable to a broad audience. For a while, Roblox was exclusively available on Xbox consoles but has now made the move to PlayStation. The publisher may seek creative authority and limit the developer to releasing the game exclusively on their chosen console. Game developers present their ideas to game publishers in order to secure funding and support, with the publisher often seeking control over the creative direction. Hope this helps!
